Came for a bday catch-up w my friends and this place didn't disappoint. Everything was delish. Service was good, ambiance was great, best desserts ever. Will be returning
I was looking for a place to take a really dear friend, and found she was working in Brooklyn and we could meet after work. Originally was going to go to Williamsburg, but been going there alot and wanted to give other places a go and share the wealth during covid. I looked into Bed Stuy area, and wanted a place with small plates. I glanced on the map and noticed Black Swan. For some reason I felt a good vibe, yes I know how can you tell by on a map. I did not think about anything else and made an instant decision and forwarded the address to my friend. Plus I did noticed the different beers they had on the website pictures. It was a super choice. We finished work around the same time. Did not take too long to find parking. I walked in 10 mins after she did and found my friend already taking down a beer!! She already had a taste of an IPA and was taking it down. I was greeted by Kevin who was behind the bar and then met Kate, who just so happens to be managing Black Swan. That was the start of a super evening and dining event. I asked about dark beers, she had a Guiness on tap plus another, which I can't remember. The "other" dark beer was not really to my liking and off she went and poured me a Guiness!! Black Swan is a British / American Gastropub. The interior is low lit and very cozy. It has a very nice charm to it. The bar was cordoned off because of coronavirus, they have communal tables in the back where the center part of the tables are 'X' off to help in social distancing. They also have booths for 4 people as well. Kevin came back to take our order and we did not even bother to look at the menu. My friend and I thru earlier conversations with Kate and Kevin, had full faith in them. We felt very much at home! We ordered Burger, Brussels sprouts, their cheesy fries, Mac and cheese, their wings and we ordered more beer and afterwards SHOTS!!! We were so comfortable and it seemed after we brought the positive vibe, we also felt the super positive vibes from Kate and Kevin. More patrons started coming in. Coincidence, maybe... We did not want to leave, but we have early work in the morning and we were there 3 hours already. We also noticed both Kate and Kevin were easily handling all the patrons and tables. Dont know if they are taking vitamins to keep up the fast pace of handling all the tables. There was some construction in front and you can easily pass it by. Make sure you look for the sign and address. Listen, without a doubt, this a a super gem of a place. They have a huge variety of food....vegan, vegetarian, bottomless brunch, small plates, burgers..its amazing. You do want to come inside and enjoy the fast and extremely friendly service. You will feel most welcome here!!
So a few times out of the year, my cousin and I would meet up and go to this jewel in the wall. I ALWAYS get the Lobster Mac and cheese and the Jerk Wings! Oh, and their drinks are good...but I'm not a big drinker, so don't rely too much on my opinion of their alcoholic beverages. Honestly, I'm interested in meeting the cook. The only way I'll stop going to this restaurant is if there is a decline in their customer service, or a different cook.
This is an awesome brunch spot! They have options for a full English breakfast, executed perfectly. They also have a cheap unlimited mimosas option- at only $14! They are attentive to refilling your glass too. It's a lovely brunch spot and I'm looking forward to eating dinner there eventually!
This place was recommended to me by a fellow foodie as we skipped work on a Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately there's construction and scaffolding on the outside which made it quite difficult to see the restaurant from the outside. I had a peach bellini as i waited for my friend to arrive. I then learned that they have $15 pitcher for 2 hours which worked out perfectly for my friend and i. I had originally come in for the fish and chips but something swayed me in the direction of the salmon Benedict. It was perfectly cooked although my eggs were poached a little too long. The salmon was fresh and the hollandaise sauce was great. The side salad was also good. I honestly cant complain about the food. It was delicious. I will say that the inside is rather dark hence the name. The booths are rather uncomfortable for full figured individuals. We opted for the stand alone seating which was much more comfy. I enjoyed brunch here and I'll definitely be back to try the fish and chips
Oh, Black Swan. I remember this place in so many different ways with so many different encounters that it barely occurred to me that it was the same place. I first came here in 2013 on a questionable date and don't have much recollection other than questioning my life decisions. Found myself here again years ago to kill time before meeting with a friend for lunch nearby and had a cocktail that was too fruity, too tiny, and too much for my then happy hour ways. This third reintroduction is most clear in my mind *cues 2018* It wasn't until I'd become familiar with the G(host) train, that I realized it was Black Swan peering at me each time I came out of the subway--just around the corner from my yoga studio. So, I popped in on a Friday after class and had a veggie burger and fries. Both were delicious and the waiters were reallly friendly. Be warned, extras are $2 each. Even a few slices of raw onion! Nevertheless, the prices are very reasonable and I'll have to try the portobello next time around.
I've been to black swan twice for brunch and have enjoyed my experience there both times. I've never had an issue with getting a table when I walked in, but both times I was with just 1 other person so I'd definitely call ahead if you have a large group because the back area is not that big. First time I went, I ordered the breakfast that comes with eggs, bacon, chicken sausage, and salad. It was large and super filling. Perfect for if you are really really hungry. The last time I came, I had the black swan burger which was a bit underwhelming. Not to mention the disappointment with the French fries which were just blah. My friend had the steak and eggs and raves about how good they were. I tried one of his potatoes and they were crispy and delicious, and better than the fries.
I can't believe that I've never reviewed this place before but seeing as I'm never sober when I leave and am usually glued to the TV while I eat and drink, I guess it makes sense. This is my go-to bar whenever I want to watch the bigger football (soccer) matches happening. The bar can get really packed during these games so get there early if you want to sit comfortably and eat while you drink or else you might be subjected to the less comfortable and quite narrow counter areas that flank the walls up front. They've also got at least 2 of my favorite beers on tap including Delirium...can never go wrong with that one. They also keep a pretty nice list of bottles as well. The food is excellent. Try the lobster mac and cheese. Among the brunch standouts is the chicken and bacon and chocolate chip topped waffle which I didn't actually order once, but I'm glad it came out that way. The big French toast is also another delicious treat. Their burgers and sandwiches are thick and juicy and you honestly cannot go wrong with anything here. They've got a cool bar staff as well. No complaints whatsoever...
